#WomensMarch and Trump.

Hello lovelies, the topic I want to speak about in this post is that of the womens march that took place across the world on the 21st January. To start I want to state that I am a feminist, not the man hating ideal that people believe feminism to be, but one of equality between men and women. This needs to be abundantly clear as critics such as Katie Hopkins have labelled the individuals who marched as 'man haters' but on the contrary they were all just showing their love for women and emphasising the need for equality.

An event that would have spurred many citizens, especially Americans, to march was Donald Trumps inauguration that happened a day previously to the march. The reason for this is on many occasions Trump has belittled females, we can all remember his 'grab them by the pussy' remark. But what emphasised the need for this march and, what will silence its critics, is the changes Donald Trump has made in America today. He has reinstated the gag rule of all US funded groups around the world, from discussing abortion. This does not only affect Americans but many people around the world. This can stop many vulnerable women from getting the correct information they need before making this decision. This is a violation of their rights and freedom. Who is he to say who can and cannot have access to this information? He is already destroying the wonderful work and legislation that Barack Obama worked so hard for, and it's only been 4 days.

This is why I believe it is paramount that marches, like the one taken earlier this week, are reinforced and that not only women but men stand up for equal rights. To display to the world that this many people are for women's rights and equal rights is detrimental to the future generations and to the current politicians of the world. This news this week of Trump reminded me of my history lessons back in sixth form where I was learning about women's struggle in the 1960's and 1970's. How dare Trump begin to dismantle decades of achievement and recognition for equal rights. I am angry beyond words.

I am with them, are you?

Blue Story - why the film shouldn't be banned

Blue Story was released on Friday, a movie about teenagers growing up in London and how they are sucked into gang culture. The film, which has been likened to the hit show Top Boy, has now been banned from all Vue cinema's in light of an incident at one of their venues in Birmingham - a decision that I think is ridiculous. Photo from Rapman's Instagram. While the safety of cinema goers is of course integral, the incident in question has not been directly linked to the film. In addition, many of the people involved are not even old enough to watch the rated 15 movie . Police have not mentioned the movie in any of their inquiries and have not recommended a ban - something the media has not shone as much of a light on. The reason this has got under my skin is that after I watched the movie on Sunday the message I took away from it is that the systematic culture of gangs is heartbreaking and unnecessary. At the heart of this film its creator Rapman is trying to say that, whil...

James Haskell's heartbreak at retirement due to injury

James Haskell has been a professional rugby player for 17 years. He has won Premiership and European championship titles with Wasps and many other titles while playing in France, New Zealand and Japan. He has had a glittering international career with England as well, winning the Six Nations, a whitewash test series in Australia and earning 77 caps for his national side. He has also toured with the British and Irish Lions. Now at the age of 34 Haskell is retiring.* "It's really daunting, I'm effectively unemployed at the end of the season. It's terrifying as it will be as if I haven't done anything." Northampton Saints home ground Franklin's Gardens looks like a fortress. It looms over the houses and businesses that surround it. In the car park are Rolls Royces, BMWs and Audis of the players turning up to training. Wales fly half Dan Biggar skips up a flight of stairs as I walk into reception. It's hard not to feel the stardom and celebration of s...

30 things I want to do before I'm 30

Hi lovelies! I'm turning 18 soon and thought it would be a good idea to write this post and then come back to it when I turn 30 and see if I could tick all of the thing off of the list! Having a check list for me means that I'm more obligated to go ahead with my ideas rather than pushing them to the back of my mind and backing it of them. SO here we go! 30: Have a spontaneous holiday. Go to the airport and just get a plane. I think this would be so much fun! 29: Fall in love. I know very cheesy but if I haven't fallen in love by the time I'm 30 I may as well be Bridget Jones; become a spinster and be eaten by wild Alsatians. If you've seen the film you'd get that reference! 28: Be in a job I love! Listen up future me if you aren't in a job you love leave it now and get one you do! There's no point in working somewhere that doesn't motivate you to get up every morning. 27: Had the courage to start up Youtube again. I posted some videos last year...
