What is ASMR?

My anxiety in recent times has been getting worse, especially just before I go to sleep. For some reason my brain likes to remind me of the worst possible outcomes of all the situations happening in my life. Due to this I've been having trouble sleeping and when this happens I turn to my phone out of boredom. One night I was scrolling through my Youtube homepage and one of my favourite Youtubers, Melanie Murphy, had posted a video including ASMR which I had no knowledge of previous to this. I starting researching all around this subject and this post is based around what I found out and what affects it has had upon myself and my anxiety.

ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. This sounds very complex but really its videos featuring visuals and sounds that calms the person watching and sometimes gives you goosebumps. Many of the videos may come across as strange to begin with, the rolepays and the personal attention especially, but I urge you to try them out and find ones that work for you because if you suffer with insomnia, anxiety or any other stress related condition the videos will have a surprising affect upon you.

Since discovering ASMR my anxiety has still been present but now I am able to get to sleep quickly. Whether this has a placebo affect or if it's actually working I don't know but I am incredibly grateful for it working out. As much as it may seem like a strange and confusing method, I guarantee you that it works. I will leave a few links below of my favourite ASMR videos, go and check them out.

30 things I want to do before I'm 30

Hi lovelies! I'm turning 18 soon and thought it would be a good idea to write this post and then come back to it when I turn 30 and see if I could tick all of the thing off of the list! Having a check list for me means that I'm more obligated to go ahead with my ideas rather than pushing them to the back of my mind and backing it of them. SO here we go! 30: Have a spontaneous holiday. Go to the airport and just get a plane. I think this would be so much fun! 29: Fall in love. I know very cheesy but if I haven't fallen in love by the time I'm 30 I may as well be Bridget Jones; become a spinster and be eaten by wild Alsatians. If you've seen the film you'd get that reference! 28: Be in a job I love! Listen up future me if you aren't in a job you love leave it now and get one you do! There's no point in working somewhere that doesn't motivate you to get up every morning. 27: Had the courage to start up Youtube again. I posted some videos last year...

Let's talk about sex!

Hello lovelies! I would like to start by saying thank you for the great response I've received about last weeks post! So many people have contacted me through social media and people in my year at school have said that it was helpful and relatable so thank you! Now as you can probably tell from the title this weeks post is going to be surrounding the subject of sex. Yep, sex. That dreaded word. For some people the topic is easily approachable and they have no problem with communicating their feelings about it. However some find it a taboo subject and it's difficult to convey what they want to say without being judged. This is what I want to talk about this week; to begin a discussion about sex and the pressures that it brings to young people. For me personally it's not the people I interact with sexually that pressure me, I feel pressure from social expectation. I got to the age of around 14/15 and people in my year at school started to experience it and I started to qu...
