Fear

Hello lovelies; I'm currently sat in my Uni flat after having a productive morning so I thought I'd write a quick post whilst I'm in the writing mood. Fears are strange aren't they? It's like a voice in your head telling you not to like something when most of the time it's needless worry. An example of this is that I was scared to come to university. I was scared that I wasn't going to fit in. I was scared that the course would be too difficult for me or I would look stupid in front of my peers and I think most of all I was scared of being on my own. But everything that the little voice was telling me and continues to tell me is false. I am qualified to do my course and yes, it is taking time for me to find my feet but I am loving every second. I get on with everyone in my flat so so well, definitely think that I have made friends for life already and I have only been here for a month. Therefore I'm not on my own because I have 9 people around me t...

A good representation?

Hello lovelies! Since I was a little girl I have always loved the fantasy of the love portrayed in romantic films. The classic boy meets girl and they fall hopelessly head over heels. This is what I grew up believing to be the truth of love. The reality was a massive wake up call; instead of coming away with the love of my life I came away with being used and left broken hearted. The point of today's post is to discuss whether RomCom/ romantic films are a good representation of love to the younger mind set. Of course the older audience that watch this genre of film have had the experience of the themes within the films and so take them with a pinch of salt. However could the representation lead to the younger mindset being built up for disappointment? The movie genre in question has countless films with the same story line and I believe Leonard from 'The Big Bang Theory' summed it up perfectly; 'it's an hour and half of houses in the rain for it to end with the...

Body image

Hello lovelies! It's been a while! I'm sorry for the lack of posts but it's been a busy few months; I'll catch you up on them in a future post. Today though I want to chat about body image. Body image. The dictionary definition for this term is as follows; body image is a person's perception of the aesthetics or sexual attractiveness of their own body. Sounds about right doesn't it? However the problem that I have is if body image is about how we perceive ourselves, why should outside influences have an affect upon the image we see looking back at us in the mirror? Surely we should be allowed to see ourselves the way we want to rather than our image being distorted by others expectations and media influences. The reason I bring this topic into light is because I have been chatting to a few of my friends recently. They want to either lose weight, use make up to 'make themselves look pretty', or go to the gym to get the perfect body. It got me wonderi...

Let's talk about sex!

Hello lovelies! I would like to start by saying thank you for the great response I've received about last weeks post! So many people have contacted me through social media and people in my year at school have said that it was helpful and relatable so thank you! Now as you can probably tell from the title this weeks post is going to be surrounding the subject of sex. Yep, sex. That dreaded word. For some people the topic is easily approachable and they have no problem with communicating their feelings about it. However some find it a taboo subject and it's difficult to convey what they want to say without being judged. This is what I want to talk about this week; to begin a discussion about sex and the pressures that it brings to young people. For me personally it's not the people I interact with sexually that pressure me, I feel pressure from social expectation. I got to the age of around 14/15 and people in my year at school started to experience it and I started to qu...

Insecurities

Hello lovelies! I'm really sorry for the lack of posts lately! I've had writers block and I've been revising for my upcoming A-level exams! But this week I'm back and I've chosen to speak about insecurities. Earlier this week I read Louise Pentland's AKA Sprinkle of Glitters new blog post called 'Be your own kind of beautiful' which you can read here - sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.co.uk. This made me start thinking about what I consider to be my insecurities and if they are even noticed by other people. When I look in the mirror I only ever point out the negatives that I see rather than the positives. I see a massive forehead, eyebrows that grow back way too fast, chubby cheeks and the ugly scars I have on my forehead. To test this hypothesis; that others don't see as many negatives that you as an individual do, I had a conversation with one of my best friends Becky. I told her about my list of insecurities and she completely disagreed with me. Sh...

The spring tag

Hello lovelies! I was nominated for this tag ages ago so I apologise for being so slow in response! I was nominated by the lovely Sophie AKA Petals of perfection. She has been a great help with starting my blog and her blog is amazing so go and check her out here - petalsofperfection.blogspot.co.uk. Lets get on with this tag! Question 1: What three colours remind you of spring? Probably pink, white and baby blue. Question 2: What is the first thing you added to your spring wardrobe? A gorgeous floor length dress. It has a lovely floral pattern of the vest style top and then it's black to the floor and it's kind of see through. I'm not great at describing haha, so check it out here- http://www.littlemissrendell.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/huge-fashion-haul.html I did a huge fashion haul and it's included in this! Question 3: What is the first item of clothing you ditch to make it more spring-like? Jeans! I hate wearing them; when winter rolls around and I'm forc...

Huge fashion haul!

Hello lovelies! I went shopping twice in the Easter half term and I thought I'd do a haul for you! I love reading and watching hauls so I hope this one is alright for you. I haven't been on a proper shopping spree in a while so I was excited to get stuck in, after watching a few hauls on Youtube (Tanya Burr's especially) I was inspired as to what kind of style I wanted. First stop was H&M. I adore this shop, every time I go in I can find something that I love! The first thing that caught my eye was a gorgeous black hat. I'm going to Reading festival this summer and I wanted this style of hat or something similar to take with me. As soon as I tried it on I loved it and had to have it; if you follow me on any social media (links at the end of the post) then you have most probably seen the hat as I have spoke so much about it already but this is what it looks like: I love it so much! It's so comfortable and goes with the majority of my wardrobe and at £12.99 I ...
